Elections News Flashes
Posted on May 26, 2026
On May 22, 2026, the Greene County Board of Elections and Registration voted to approve a change in polling location for the June 16, 2026, primary runoff election. The change was necessary due to notice of a scheduling conflict and unavailability of the original location. Therefore, the polling place for the Old Salem precinct will be located at Lake Oconee Church, 1101 Village Park Dr., Greensboro, GA 30642.

Y’all Come
If you did not vote in the Primary on May 19, you have another chance. In fact, only 37% of the voters in Greene County showed up. As a result, nothing was resolved.
Consider that we are trying to elect a Senator, a Governor, a Lt Governor, a Secretary of State, a School Superintendent, and a County Commissioner and two thirds of you turned your back on Democracy and stayed home. Contrast that with many places in the world where people do not have an opportunity to vote and others where people risk their lives to do so.
On June 16, we get a rare opportunity for a “do over”. At that time, and with early voting from June 8 to 12, we can try again to settle on candidates for the November vote.
It is particularly important for Republicans where we have runoffs as follows;
U.S. Senate - Collins vs, Dooley
Governor – B. Jones vs Jackson
Lt Governor - Kennedy vs Dolezal
Secretary of State – Fleming vs V. Jones
School Superintendent – Longrear vs Woods
County Commissioner Districet 1 – Lawler vs Easley
Remember the 2020 run-off election for U.S. Senator? Republicans led Democrats after the Election in both cases but nobody had a majority. The Republicans did not show up to vote in the Runoff, and we now have two Democratic Senators who did not win the popular vote.
Don’t let the results of this runoff be determined by a small percentage of us.
We’re having an election in June. Y’all come.
